Dear Faculty, Students, and Colleagues, Due to a large-scale power outage on campus (please refer to the announcement by the Office of General Affairs), the NTU COOL learning platform experienced an unexpected service interruption between 04:00 and 13:00 on December 11, 2025. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience this has caused to course operations, especially during this critical period leading up to final exams. Because the power outage occurred suddenly, it caused anomalies in our systems and hardware due to the abrupt power cut. The restoration process was more complex than anticipated, which extended the time required to bring services back online. We sincerely ask for your understanding. Regarding the impact of this service interruption on courses, we offer the following explanations and assistance: To Instructors: If the platform outage has affected assignment submissions or exam schedules, we kindly ask for your flexibility in adjusting deadlines and regulations in light of this unexpected situation. To Students: If you missed an assignment deadline or were otherwise affected due to the NTU COOL outage, and require our team to provide system logs or an explanation to your instructor, please do not hesitate to contact us at ntucool@ntu.edu.tw. We will do our utmost to assist you. Following this incident, our team has reviewed our risk management and system recovery plans. We will reflect deeply on our shortcomings and plan relevant drills to strengthen our emergency response capabilities. Furthermore, we will establish a tighter communication mechanism with the Office of General Affairs and other relevant units to ensure that, should similar incidents occur in the future, information can be conveyed more immediately and response plans activated promptly.
