Establishment and Adjustment Procedure for Teaching Units in NTU

  1. I. Relevant Regulation: NTU Approval Standards and Implementation Guidelines for the Establishment, Alteration, Merger, and Suspension of Teaching and Research Units.

  6. VI. Time: According to the scheduled timetable established by each department, graduate institute, degree program, or college.
  7. VII. Notes:
    1. i. The procedure herein shall apply to colleges, departments, sections, graduate institutes, divisions, centers, degree programs, and all other teaching or research units with university faculty/staff as well as offices run at fixed locations.
    2. ii. All proposals shall be approved by the NTU Affairs Meeting before submitted to the Ministry of Education.
  8. VIII. Workflow:
  9. The proposing unit shall submit three copies of its proposal, which shall be
    approved by the department/institute as well as the college affairs meetings,
    to the Office of Academic Affairs.
    The Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of General Affairs, and the Office of
    Research and Development shall review the proposal and provide suggestions in their professional capacity.
    The proposing unit shall revise its proposal according to the aforementioned suggestions and obtain the approval of the three Offices before the Office of Academic Affairs submits to the Administrative Meeting.
    A Special Review Committee shall review the case and provide suggestions
    for the President’s reference.
    After the President’s approval, the Office of the Secretariat shall submit
    the proposal to the University Affairs Development Planning Committee for further review.
    The University Affairs Development Planning Committee shall submit
    the proposal to the NTU Affairs Meeting for deliberation after completing the review process.
    After being approved by the NTU Affairs Meeting, the proposal
    shall be submitted to the Ministry of Education according to its scheduled timetable.
    After being notified of the result by the Ministry of Education,
    the Office of Academic Affairs shall inform the proposing unit, the college it belongs to, as well as other relevant units of the decision.
